Two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.

And ever since, every summer the sisters are back in town, they take young girls’ bodies and kill the 3 boys, and maybe more..

Our main character Penny Talbot, keeps her distance from the ocean on this night every summer, and when a boy named Bo Carte stumbles into her life, both of them try to get to the  bottum of this curse, but there’re a of secrets on the way..

The Story had great potential! it sounds so mysterious and magical, honestly i started it with so much expectation.

But then throught the book, i felt like the story drifted more into a contemporary rythm than a fanasy one, we get into Penny’s life, and yeah she is the main character, but the mysterious creepy theme disapeared for a while, so i was  a bit disapointed as i kept reading.

BUUUUTT, The ending, was SHOCKING AS HELL!
Never in a million year would i have expected this ending, and honestly it made up for all the disapointement i got in the middle of the book.

The swan sisters were my absolute favorite parts of the books, they are down-right creepy and utterly evil, aka my favorite kind of characters, and any stories about them got me grippin the book for dear life.

Also every couple of chapters there was this off-chapters pages that epxlains stories about the curse and the sisters, it made the backstory very believable.

  1. I read this one when it was newly released and though it’s more than a year since I read it, I can say, I agree with everything you said. I was disappointed at some parts of this book too but it was creepy. The atmosphere was amazing.

  2. I have been hearing about this for a long time! But I am sorry the middle of the story seemed a bit…off. I hate it when the story loses its sense of genre midway.
Still, you seem to have enjoyed this one and I am so glad. 😊
